Émilie Martel is a trilingual writer, director and producer.
Her projects have received support from Hot Docs Cross Current Funds, the Canadian Council for the Arts, the Ontario Art Council and more. She directed and produced the first and second seasons of a francophone animated series about the Métis culture in Ontario, created, co-wrote and directed a fiction teen series about girls in a hockey league, and directed and wrote an unscripted tween cooking series that was recently nominated for a Prix Gémeaux. She is currently working as a director and writer on a diverse portfolio of fiction and non-fiction series.
Whether it’s a documentary or youth series, Emilie is passionate about exploring new forms of visual storytelling, loves working with diverse artists, and has a desire to tell stories that highlight cultural diversity and environmental themes.
Émilie is also the owner of the production company Kannon Films.
